ITHACA SOUND MAZE NEWS

Update 9/19/09 - Lot's of news. Walter Charles White was awarded a 2009 C.A.P.II grant from Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County for construction of new instruments for the Ithaca Sound Maze. '$7500 was distributed between four artists who are doing new work and involving the community in the creation of that work in a significant way'. Walter Charles White was also recipient of a 2008 Sustainability Award from Sustainable Tomkins for his work using sustainable materials in the innaugural 2008 maze.

Update 11/2/08 Due to popular demand and the nice weather, we've decided to stay open a couple of extra weeks - stay tuned for the closing date! The Ithaca Sound Maze will be available on a self-serve basis only for the rest of this season unless special arrangements are made in a advance. Thanks to everyone who stopped out this year. Keep your 'ear' out for further developments. We plan to open earlier next year and add more instruments, features, food, and fun attractions!!

Our self-serve kiosk is now open! Regular staffed hours will remain the same. The self-serve kiosk is available any time, any day! Look for the colorful umbrella and please pay the little black box. Click here to download information sheets and the Sound Maze instrument checklist.

Update 10/25/08: We will be open 11-6 Sunday 10/26. as it looks like the weather will be favorable. If anyone came by in the rain on Saturday, sorry we missed you.

Update 10/21/08: The instruments of the Ithaca Sound Maze have made it into a Podcast! Check out doctor-b's Podcast here. The instruments were played by DJ Niles Chandler, of WHRW Binghamton, and recorded by Doctor B on the Bartlemuzik Ltd. Mobile Unit.

10/13/08: We've had a great couple of opening weekends. Unbelievable weather! We've had over 500 visitors so far including people from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and California! Thanks to everyone who came out! It's great to see all the family, friends and neighborss in addition to meeting many new friends.

Look for an upcoming piece on the Ithaca Sound Maze by Bruce McKee on the Pegasys channel. We'll let you know right here when it's going to air.

Thanks to the crews from I.C.'s Park School who came out on two separate occasions to cover the story. Great job on the news piece!
